Arena I Elite Turf Ryegrass
INCREASED RECOVERY WEAR
WINTER ACTIVE
LOW TEMPERATURE GERMINATION
Characteristics and areas of use
Arena I perennial ryegrass is an all purpose, highly-winter active, “Mediterranean-type” turf grass that is ideally suited to winter sports fields, or areas subject to high wear. Arena I also has the unique ability to germinate quickly under low temperatures - down to 5 degrees C.
Arena I has a mid green colour which helps to mask a Poa annua invasion. It has a proven history of excellent performance in sports fields.
Breeding history
Arena I was bred by utilising Mediterranean germplasm crossed with climatically adapted American material. The high winter activity of the Mediterranean germplasm means Arena I is able to continue growing in the colder months when other grasses have stopped. It has a high endophyte level giving it resistance to insects and pests.
Sowing rate
Arena I turf ryegrass can be sown in lawns at 2 - 4 kg/100m². Use the higher seeding rate for faster establishment.
In new sports fields and winter over-seeded couch grass, it should be sown at 400 - 500 kg/ha.
